Eat My Heart Out explores identity, love and self-discovery through the story of Piñata, a non-binary character confronting the emotional complexities of a Halloween reunion with a former partner. Blending surreal symbolism with intimate storytelling, the film examines the search for self beyond the expectations of love and identity.

As Costume Designer, I led the creative development of the film’s wardrobe from concept to screen. Working closely with the director, I translated the script into a distinctive visual language through original costume illustrations, research, material sourcing, pattern cutting and garment construction. Each costume was designed to embody the emotional evolution of the characters while reinforcing the film’s symbolic narrative.

Alongside the design process, I fulfilled the responsibilities of Key Costumer throughout production, overseeing fittings, costume preparation, continuity, on-set wardrobe supervision, alterations and maintenance, ensuring every costume remained consistent, functional and camera-ready during filming.

For Eat My Heart Out, I explored costume as a narrative device rather than decoration. The handcrafted Piñata costume and the flowing Sun gown were conceived as opposing visual metaphors—one concealing identity beneath layers, the other expressing openness, warmth and emotional clarity. Through colour, silhouette and texture, the costumes became an extension of the characters’ internal journeys, supporting the film’s exploration of gender identity, love and transformation.
